The River 200 Hour offers a well-rounded and immersive training experience through lecture, discussion, practical application, and experiential learning. This program is designed to both support and challenge you, meeting a range of learning styles while guiding you deeper into the practice.
Our intention is not only that you can skillfully lead a 60 minute Vinyasa class, but that you do so in your own voice. We emphasize clear and accessible cueing, inclusive language, and thoughtful modifications so every student feels supported in their experience.
Rooted in tradition and responsive to the present, this training weaves together philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, and personal development. You will gain a grounded understanding of yoga’s origins while exploring how these teachings can be applied in a modern and evolving context.
Since 2013, The River has led multiple teacher trainings each year alongside a wide range of continuing education programs. Our leadership team brings depth of experience, care, and intention to every aspect of the training, creating a space for meaningful learning, growth, and connection.

Lisa believes the practice of yoga can truly be transformational. When she first stepped into a yoga class, she knew something special was happening and wanted to keep coming back. Lisa hopes to guide each student more into the present moment by cultivating space for our breath, mind, and body to connect.
She also hopes that everyone can find a little more joy in their day through her playful and energizing sequences where you may end up in quite a few balancing postures. You will be challenged to laugh a little and to breathe a lot. Lisa completed both her 200 and 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Denver and knows she is forever a student of this beautiful practice.
When she is not teaching, you can find Lisa playing with her baby Emery or out in the sunshine with her dogs and husband.

Of course it’s ok! The River teacher training is a whole life experience. You will learn the confidence to speak powerfully in front of people. To convey the knowledge you learn and the knowledge that’s already in you. You will be in the best shape of your life, feel amazing and inspired. You will make life long friendships with your community and with yourself. You will shed layers, become even lighter and you can always teach later if you change your mind. Or not!
-
A variety of experience levels is expected and appreciated in The River Teacher Training Program. Beginner students make great teachers as they have a fresh perspective and remember what it’s like to be new. No specific amount of yoga experience is required. Participants will practice yoga often to learn what each pose feels like in their bodies. In the last teacher training program we had students that had been practicing yoga anywhere from 6 months to 10 years.
-
At the completion of The River teacher training, if all expectations of the training have been met, you will receive a 200 hour yoga certification for our program. Almost all studios, gyms, and other facilities offering yoga require a minimum of 200 hours of yoga teacher training. In that regard, you will absolutely be qualified. At The River, we are committed to not creating a teacher training factory line. We will invest in each and every participant.
