Christen Bakken

Christen Bakken (she/her) found yoga in 1998 in a Bikram studio.  Her mat began as a refuge and brought her structure and routine in an otherwise chaotic time in her young life. In the early 2000s in college, she continued to practice but this time power vinyasa. She did so for joy and community.

In 2006, Christen took her first 200-hour yoga teacher training at Core Power.  Her training continued with a 500-hour training in Bhakti Flow with Rusty Wells from 2010-2014.  It was through these trainings that she blended her love of music, breath, and movement, and the healing power of devotion (bhakti) to create a class that was dynamic and moving.  When on the mat in Christen’s class, you can expect to hear a story that makes you laugh and/or cry and to remember that you belong and are not alone.  While the format you will find her teaching the most is River Flow, the takeaway is always - what we practice on our mats, we can do in our lives.

When not in the studio, Christen can be found outside on an adventure with her pups or tossing dough with her husband as they own their own small business, Basic Kneads Pizza.
